All electrical appliances fitted with a plug are subject to (1) a thorough visual inspection and (2) a series of tests carried out on professional PAT testing equipment. In addition, minor faults are corrected (e.g. plugs are rewired), appliances are marked to record test date and result, failures are reported and a qualifying certificate is issued. An electronic record is also supplied if required.
